When you're on-site doing an inspection, SiteDNA lets you capture issues by taking a photo and adding details, all from your phone. Each issue is geotagged to the spot where you took the photo, so your reports will show exactly where everything is on the property.
Capturing an issue
Open the property you're inspecting from your property list.
Tap the green camera button at the bottom of the screen.
Take a photo of the issue.
Add the issue details:
Title. A short description (e.g., "Tree pruning needed" or "Missed weeding in flower bed")
Category. Select one (e.g., "Tree Care," "Maintenance")
Tags. Add as many as apply (e.g., "Warranty", "Deciduous")
Price. A dollar amount for billable items, or leave blank
Description. Add any extra notes
Tap Save.
Adding multiple photos to an issue
If you need more than one angle of the same issue:
Tap the photo icon with a + beside the thumbnail picture.
Choose Use Camera to take more photos, or Add from Gallery to select existing ones from your phone.
If using the camera, you can take up to 10 additional photos in a row. The counter in the bottom right shows how many you've captured.
Tap Done to return to the issue details screen.
Tap Save when you're ready.
Using templates for faster capture
If you have templates set up, you can skip the manual entry:
After taking your photo, tap Use Template.
Select the template that matches your issue (e.g., "Medium Tree Removal").
Any fields that are set in the template will pre-fill automatically. Fields left empty in the template won't overwrite existing values on the issue.
Adjust anything if needed, then tap Save.
Working offline
If you're in an area with poor or no cell service, SiteDNA saves your captured issues locally on your device. You'll see a banner at the top of the screen that says you're offline. Once you're back in service, everything syncs automatically, with no action needed on your end.
Viewing issues on the map
Tap Map in the bottom left to see your captured issues on a satellite map. Issues that are close together are grouped into numbered clusters. Zoom in and the clusters break apart to show individual issues with photo thumbnails at their exact locations.
Good to know
Issue pins are placed based on your phone's GPS location when you take the photo. If you zoomed in from far away, the pin may not land exactly on the issue. You can move it by opening the issue and tapping Location and Move pins to drag and reposition.
You can also create an issue without a photo, which is useful for logging customer requests from a phone call or adding a to-do when you're not on-site. Issues without a photo won't have a map location at this time.
Issues are grouped by the day they were captured, making it easy to select everything from a single inspection.
